Scott Robbins, composer
Ritual Meditations
piano solo
35:00
This is a nine-movement piece in arch form. The movements all have mystical, meditative qualities, combining elements of minimalism, Bartok-style night music, and hymns and gospel music. There is some flashy piano playing, as well as some deeply simple stuff. Some of the movements were written long ago (like 1987), and some are adaptations of other works I've written for wind ensemble and chorus. The entire cycle was brilliatly played by Linda Holzer, who added visual elements to the work. A link to the video of this work on the College Music Society website appears below.
