I Colored A Wanted Music I Can Always Hear

piano solo

12:00

Written for Wael Farouk's Carnegie Hall debut, this piece was premiered in Weill Recital Hall in June, 2012. It's a piece that is simple and delicate at times, yet with ample opportunities to showcase Wael's blazing technique as well as his musical sensitivity.

The title came from my son, Aidin, who strung together that particular combiation of words with a refrigerator magnet poetry set when he was six. (Hey, it got him a free trip to NYC.)

"...almost a singularly marvelous piece. The Japanese echoes of the first theme were not as important as the delicate subtle melody itself, given some equally delcate variations."

ConcertoNet, June 1, 2013
