Herod's Throne

SATB chorus

4:00

Text:

On Herod's throne, the star shines down. Bright in the eveing sky.

It's light proclaims the King of Heaven: God's grace has drawn nigh.

From Herod's throne, the king looked up, The star so brightly shone.

The shepherds stilled and beheld the angels singing, Over Heord's throne.

To Herod's throne the wise men come, They seek the heavenly King.

In reverent awe, they stand before him: Treasured gifts they bring

To Herod's throne, the wise men come, The star so brightly shone.

The shepherds stilled and beheld the angels singing, Over Heord's throne.

From Herod's throne are soldiers sent, To kill the infant blest.

Their quest to take his life is useless: Christ won't yet taste death.

From Herod's throne, were soldiers sent, The star so brightly shone.

The shepherds stilled and beheld the angels singing, Over Heord's throne.

Long ages pass, time rages forth, Two-thousand years have gone.

Decay and thorns now choke the sight, Where once stood Herod's throne.

From Herod's throne, the king looked up, The star so brightly shone.

The world stands still and beholds God's love has triumphed, Over Herod's throne.
